Operation Sanctuary police say they are investigating 60 potential victims

The investigation - which has led to the arrest of 120 people - concerns sexual abuse of vulnerable girls and women

Police probing the widespread sexual abuse of vulnerable girls and women have received a total of 60 complaints.

The investigation - codenamed Operation Sanctuary - was launched in response to the sexual offences in Newcastle and surrounding areas.

A total of 120 people have now been arrested and 21 people have been charged since its launch in January.

Just this month predators Hafeez Cole Oye-Dada and Moses Ologbenla were jailed for a total of 16 years after being snared as part of the crackdown on cases against vulnerable girls and women.

Two vulnerable schoolgirls tried to kill themselves after being plied with drink and drugs and subjected to vile sex attacks.

Oye-Dada raped a 14-year-old girl after “cynically exploiting” her by giving her alcohol and cannabis.

He waited until she was incapable through intoxication then attacked her at his friend’s home in the west end of Newcastle, leaving her half naked in a pool of vomit on a bare mattress.

In another room of the property, Ologbenla was subjecting the girl’s 14-year-old friend to another sex attack after getting her drunk on vodka and cannabis.

As married father Oye-Dada was locked up for 10 years for rape and Ologbenla six years for sexual activity with a child, it emerged both victims had taken overdoses after their ordeals.

In a separate case in July this year Gurhan Sayan became the first to be jailed under Operation Sanctuary.

The 45-year-old picked up his 28-year-old victim and assaulted her after finding her slumped on the roadside as he drove through Newcastle, the city’s Crown Court heard.

The victim, who was planning on meeting a friend in town, had fallen after losing her shoe outside the Union Rooms bar, on Westgate Road.

She remembered being approached by a man who gave her back her shoe and put a hand on her shoulder, but the next thing she recalls is waking up on the back seat of a car, 20 minutes later, before the driver who she had never met before, climbed into the back and sexually assaulted her.

Sayan, of Plunkett Terrace, Chester-le-Street, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and was jailed for 45 months.

The news comes as a widespread child abuse ring in Rotherham was laid bare.

An inquiry found at least 1,400 children in the town were sexually exploited by predominantly Asian criminal gangs between 1997 and 2013.

A report commissioned by the council was published on Tuesday and revealed the massive scale of abuse in Rotherham.

The inquiry team noted fears among council staff of being labelled “racist” if they focused on victims’ descriptions of the majority of abusers as “Asian” men.

Rashid Rehman, 41, of Whittington Grove, Fenham, Newcastle, has been charged with sexual assault by touching of a female aged under the age of 16. The charge is in relation to an incident in Newcastle that happened on April 20.
He will appear at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on September 1.

Awan Shahnawaz, 32, of Wingrove Gardens, Fenham, Newcastle, has been charged with sexual assault by touching a female aged under the age of 16. The charge is in relation to an incident in Newcastle that happened on March 3.
He will appear at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on August 29.

Police have now made 120 arrests as part of the investigation. The total number of charges stands at 21.

------------------------------------------------

This is our version of the announcement released by Northumbria Police. The original version makes no mention of these animals being yet more muslims raping and grooming our children, also the police have wrote the announcement so it reads  "touching of a female aged over 13" !!!!
What the hell does that even mean? So the female could have been 20? 40?...even 60??? No it means it was 2 CHILDREN aged under 16. Northumbria police need to grow a set of balls and stop being scared of upsetting the local Muslim community, if they keep pandering to this scum we will have no option but to take matters in our own hands to highlight these henious crimes that are taking place within the West End of Newcastle.

Newcastle division respond to Palestinian flag at Nc/le Civic Centre

Early last week a Newcastle labour councillor (David Stockdale) flew the Palestinian flag at Newcastle’s Civic Centre. David Stockdale did this act without official permission from Newcastle City Council and his action is being investigated, though it has been suggested that no action will be taken against him.

The Newcastle division of the English Defence League were rightly outraged that this foreign flag was flown in their city at a government building by an elected official and that no action would (most likely) be taken against that person.

With that in mind some Newcastle patriots decided that if he can fly a flag without repercussions then so can they.  On the way home from the EDL national Batley demo a plan was hatched to hoist the official English Defence League flag in protest of the Palestinian flag being flown, and that is exactly what they did.

We are not sure how long our flag was flying over Newcastle that day/night or who took it down as no one has yet claimed responsibility, but it does not matter how long it was flying because our point was made.

Respect to all the patriots involved NS

Palestinian flag flown above the Civic Centre in Newcastle

City councillors have flown the Palestinian flag at Newcastle’s Civic Centre to protest against the loss of life in the ongoing Israeli conflict.

Newcastle City Councillor David Stockdale raised the flag on Tuesday evening during a staged ‘die in’ event which involved 100 people lying on the ground at the Renwick War Memorial to represent lives lost in the fighting.

It flew for half an hour and although Labour Cllr Stockdale didn’t have permission from the council officially to fly the occupied territory’s flag, he said death toll is too important to ignore.

It is estimated that 1875 people have been killed in Gaza and 64 soldiers and three Israeli civilians have died since fighting began on July 8.

“We have a strong tradition in Newcastle for standing up against international humanitarian issues for example when Nelson Mandela was given the Freedom of the City in 1986. At that time he was still considered a terrorist by the Government,” said Cllr Stockdale who represents the Blakelaw ward.

“I did hoist that flag, officially I didn’t have permission to do it, but the important thing is that it is a symbol. I flew it freely, a right people in Palestine don’t have. The flag is symbolic of the hope that we have not that it’s the end of the ground offensive in Gaza. It was also to respect the people who have lost their lives.”

The Die In demonstration was the fifth in a series of protests held in Newcastle against the loss of life in Gaza by the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Friends of Al Aqsa, the Stop the War Coalition and Newcastle Labour Friends of Palestine.

A demonstration involving several hundred people was held in Newcastle in July and the crowds were addressed by Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah and British journalist and former Sunday Sun assistant editor, Yvonne Ridley.

On Tuesday Baroness Warsi - the first Muslim woman appointed to the Cabinet - resigned as a Foreign Office minister over Britain’s policy on the conflict.

Israel’s military offensive called Operation Protective Edge had the stated aim of preventing rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel and destroying a network of tunnels built by group Hamas.

A humanitarian truce is so far holding in Gaza, halting the four-week conflict.

Dipu Ahad, Labour city councillor for Elswick, said: “Campaign group Al Aqsa say they are overwhelmed at the support they have had from people in Newcastle. They have said the support Labour councillors are giving is also unique to anywhere else.

“We condemn the action against Gaza by raising the flag. It signifies that we are not going to stand by silently.”

A Newcastle City Council spokesperson said:

"No official permission was given for the raising of the Palestinian flag last night and we will now investigate how this happened. It was hoisted by an individual during a peaceful protest held outside the Civic Centre."

Newcastle men jailed for 16 years for sex crimes with girls under 16

Two men from Newcastle have been jailed after being found guilty of sex crimes with two girls under the age of 16.

Hafeez Cole Oye-Dada, 44, of Hampstead Road, was jailed for 10 years after he was convicted of raping a female under the age of 16.

Moses Ologbenla, 31, of Ellesmere Road, was convicted of grooming and sexual activity with a girl under 16 and was jailed for six years.

The men were sentenced after a two-week trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

Both had denied all the charges against them.

Northumbria Police's Assistant Chief Constable Winton Keenen, said the force was pleased the court had "recognised the dreadful crimes these two men have committed".

"They targeted their victims, knowing they were under age and preyed on their vulnerabilities.

"This was with the intention of luring them into a false sense of security so they could sexually assault and rape them, all while under the influence of significant amounts of alcohol, which they supplied."
